Karen Shoos Lipton
CEO, American Association of Blood Banks

Ms. Lipton has been a director since May 2001. Ms. Lipton was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Blood Banks in October 1994. Previously she has held senior positions at the American Red Cross since 1984, including Acting Senior Vice President, Biomedical Services (1993-1994) and Secretary and General Counsel (1990-1993). Prior to the American Red Cross, Ms. Lipton was a lawyer in private practice. Ms. Lipton currently serves on the Department of Health and Human Services, Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability.
